Clark County

Clark County was established on February 26, 1867 from Peketon Territory. Clark county was abolished in 1883 and merged with Ford County. On March 07, 1885 Clark County was re-established from Ford County. The county was named in honor of Charles F. Clarke, Captain in 6th Regiment Kansas Volunteer Cavalry during American Civil War. Promoted to Ass't Adjutant General in the U.S. Volunteers, he died at Memphis, Tenn., on 10 Dec 1862.
